The speech at this year's commemoration on 1 October at Hartheim Castle – Place for Learning and Remembrance was given by Dr Marianne Schulze.

She is an expert on social sustainability and human rights, board member of the Global Initiative on Psychiatry and she was the inaugural chair of the Austrian Monitoring Committee on Compliance with the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
