Gabriele Hofer-Stelzhammer (MAS), Deputy Chairwoman of the Hartheim Castle Society, will deliver the welcoming remarks at this year’s commemoration ceremony. This will be followed by a commemorative address from State Governor Thomas Stelzer. We are pleased to welcome Dr. Christine Haiden—journalist and author—as this year’s keynote speaker. Following the prayers, wreaths will be laid at the cemetery. Please refer to the program (see below) for further details.
Eingestickt – In memory of 67 people murdered in Hartheim in 1940
Photographer Ulrike Wieser‘s art installation uses the craft of embroidery to draw attention to the victims of Nazi Euthanasia. Their life and death remains on the margins of memory. In the exhibition Stitched Into Memory, the artist, together with the historian Melanie Dejnega, pays tribute to 67 residents of St. Josef-Instituts in Mils/Tirol, who were in 1940 transported to and murdered at Hartheim Castle.
