Memorial

On the ground floor of Hartheim Castle – Place of Learning and Remembrance is the Memorial, which consists of documentation rooms and the former killing rooms. The documentation rooms provide information on the Nazi euthanasia programme in general, with a particular focus on Hartheim Castle, on the remaining evidence of the killing operations in Hartheim and on the victims and perpetrators. The places that were a direct part of the killing operations are the former place of arrival, the reception room, the gas chamber, the technical room, the morgue and the crematorium room. The Memorial also houses the Room of Silence, which serves as a place of remembrance for the victims of Nazi euthanasia.
